Specialist Asset Finance is a finance introducer and broker to lenders and investors.
We process personal information customers provide including contact information, residency, employment, income and expenditure details to enable us to source a range of financial services.

This notice explains how and why we collect information from you, who we share it with, on what basis and why. It also details your rights.
How do we use your information?
We will use your personal information in a number of ways, which helps us:
A. choose the most appropriate lenders for your needs
B. prevent crime and fraud
C. with audits where relevant
D. to share marketing information if there is a relevant need
We will share your information and obtain information about you with our selected investors and lenders, suppliers of goods/services to you and credit reference and fraud prevention agencies. We may supply the information to any parties that you request to help us or you in providing services to you.
In order to process your requirements our chosen lenders will supply your information to credit reference agencies to assess your credit rating.
SAF has to supply the lender with consent from all parties agreeing for a credit search to be undertaken. The credit reference agencies used include Equifax, Experian and Call Credit.
SAF and lenders may make copies of personal identity evidence that you provide to us for our/their security, identification and verification purposes. The lawful basis for processing this personal data is compliance with legal obligations, in particular Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) obligations.
Lenders cannot provide you with financial services without this personal information.
In addition to the above, lenders may also share personal information with law enforcement, HM revenue & customs, fraud detection organisations, UK financial regulators and other financial service organisations.
SAF acts as data as a data controller for the information you supply, but when lenders or other parties are introduced they will provide their own privacy policy on request.
SAF will collect the following personal data:
• Full name
• Address and possibly previous addresses
• Date of birth
• Financial information
• Contact numbers and email address
• We may also relevant data from time to time including data including geographic locations.
We need to know your personal data to provide you with an accurate assessment for your finance needs and will not collect any personal data from you that we do not need.
Data Protection says that we are allowed to use and share your personal data only where we have one or more proper reasons to do so as set out in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and summarised as follows.
(a) the data subject (SAF customer) has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes;
(b) processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract;
(c) processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject;
(d) processing is necessary in order to protect the vital interests of the data subject or of another natural person;
(e) processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller;
(f) processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child.
Our lawful basis for processing this data is that by engaging SAF you have entered into a contract for the performance of services, legal record or that we have a legitimate interest to process the information.
Those legitimate interests are sourcing finance for your needs, enhancing the services that you receive from us, managing and supporting our staff and contracted consultants as well as effectively managing our own accounts and records.
What we do with your information
All the data we use is controlled by SAF in the UK, however for the purposes of IT platform hosting this information may be located on servers within the European Union. Third parties do not have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so.
We will never pass your data onto third parties (except where agreed or described above), however we may occasionally send e-mails containing information which you may find interesting using the e-mail addresses provided.
Hard copy information is stored in secure offices.
We are committed to ensuring that your information (hard and electronic formats) is secure in order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect from you and online.
SAF will hold your data for 7 years after contract end date, after which time it will be destroyed.
You have the right to withdraw consent at any time and we will not use or process your data.
You have the following rights:
1. Right of access – to request access to your personal information and detail on how we process it.
2. Right to rectification – to have your personal information corrected if it is inaccurate and to have incomplete personal information completed.
3. Right to erasure (also known as the right to be forgotten) – to have your personal information erased.
4. Right to restriction of processing – to restrict processing of your personal information
5. Right to data portability – to electronically move, copy or transfer your personal information in a standard form.
6. Right to object – to object to processing of your personal information.
7. Rights with regards to automated individual decision making and profiling relating to automated decision making and profiling.
